Eligibility

The Game is intended for a general audience. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Game with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

The Service

Hollywoodland is a free, single-player browser game. There is no account registration, username, or password: your career — the character you create and your progress — is stored locally in your browser. You may export a save file to your device and import it later, including in a different browser or on a different device, to carry your progress with you.

License to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and play the Game for your personal, non-commercial entertainment, subject to these Terms. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by Playology.

No Purchases

The Game is free to play and, as of this writing, offers no virtual currency, purchases, or paid content. If that changes, these Terms will be updated accordingly.

User Conduct

When using the Game, you agree not to:

• Cheat, exploit bugs, or use unauthorized third-party software to gain an unfair advantage.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Game or the systems that serve it.
• Use the Game for any unlawful purpose.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Game, except where permitted by law.

AI-Generated Content and Character Likeness

Many of the characters, portraits, backgrounds, and other visual assets in Hollywoodland are generated using artificial intelligence tools as part of the Game's creative production process. Any resemblance between an in-game character or asset and any real person, living or deceased, is purely coincidental and unintentional. No in-game character is based on, modeled after, or intended to depict any actual individual.

If you believe an in-game asset resembles you or another identifiable individual, please contact us using the information in the Contact Us section below so we can review the matter.

Intellectual Property

The Game, including its software, artwork, writing, and all other content, is owned by Playology Entertainment or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license granted above, nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you.

Save Data and Loss

Your save data is stored in your browser's local storage and exists only on the device and browser you played on. Clearing your browser's site data, switching browsers or devices, or playing in a private/incognito window can make earlier progress inaccessible unless you exported a save file beforehand. We are not responsible for progress lost this way.

Termination

We may discontinue or modify the Game at any time. You may stop using the Game at any time.

Disclaimers

The Game is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Game will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Playology Entertainment shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the Game.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Game after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Information We Collect

The Game requires no account, name, email address, or password to play. Your career — the name you give your character, the origin and character you choose, and your progress — is stored only in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) and is never sent to our servers automatically.

If you choose to export a save file, that file is saved to your own device; we only receive it if you voluntarily send it to us, for example to report a bug.

The Settings menu includes an optional toggle to share anonymous, aggregate performance analytics; it does not send your character's name, dialogue, or save data, and you can turn it off at any time.

Information We Do Not Collect

The Game does not:

• Require account registration with personal information.
• Display third-party advertising.
• Use advertising trackers or cross-site tracking analytics.
• Process real-money payments — the Game is free and currently offers no purchases.

How We Use Information

Any information described above is used solely to operate and improve the Game — for example, to keep your career and saved progress in your browser, and to understand overall usage of the Game through aggregate analytics, if you choose to leave that setting on.

How We Store and Protect Information

Your career and save data live in your browser's own storage, under your control; a save file you export is a plain file on your device. We take reasonable measures to protect any information we do receive, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties, except with service providers who help us operate the Game (such as hosting or analytics infrastructure) or if required to do so by law.

Children's Privacy

The Game is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Playing the Game does not require a name, email address, or any other personal information.

Your Choices

Because your progress is stored only in your browser, clearing your browser's site data or switching to a different browser or device will make it inaccessible unless you exported a save file first. You can turn off anonymous analytics sharing at any time in Settings.
