Privacy Policy

GoTools is built local-first. It works fully without an account, and by default nothing you enter ever leaves your device.

Who we are

GoTools is a free collection of travel-planning tools operated by Playology Entertainment (“we”, “us”). It runs entirely in your web browser at playologyentertainment.com/GoTools. There is no GoTools account and no GoTools server that stores your trips.

The short version

No account is required to use any tool.
Your trips, lists and settings are saved in your own browser (local storage) — not on our servers.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or run cross-site advertising trackers.
Optional features that send data somewhere (analytics, Google Drive sync) are described plainly below, and the sync feature is opt-in.

Data you enter into the tools

Trip details, packing lists, budgets, itineraries and similar information you type into GoTools are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data stays on your device and is under your control. Clearing your browser storage removes it. We cannot see it.

Analytics

We use GoatCounter for basic, privacy-friendly usage statistics. GoatCounter is cookieless, does not collect personal data, and only counts aggregate page views (for example, how many people opened the site). It does not build a profile of you or track you across other sites.

Optional Google sign-in & Google Drive sync

GoTools offers an optional feature to sign in with your Google account and sync your trips across your own devices using your own Google Drive. This is a convenience only — every tool works without it, and you never have to sign in.

If you choose to use it:

We request a narrow Google permission (drive.file) that lets GoTools access only the files it creates in your Drive. It cannot see the rest of your Drive.
Your trip data is stored in your own Google Drive under your Google account, governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not run a server that holds a copy.
Sign-in happens directly between your browser and Google. The temporary access token is held only in your browser’s memory for the session and is never written to disk by us.
If you choose to share a trip with a travel companion, GoTools sets that single trip file to “anyone with the link can view,” so the person you send the link to can import it. Trips are private by default; sharing is always an explicit choice, and you can stop sharing (revoke the link) at any time.
You can sign out at any time, and you can delete GoTools files from your Google Drive directly.

GoTools’ use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We don’t use your data to train models or for advertising.
We don’t require you to create an account with us.

Third-party services

Some tools may link to or fetch public information from third-party services (for example, currency or maps providers) when you actively use them. Those requests are made from your browser and are subject to the respective provider’s privacy policy. GoTools does not send them your personal profile.

Children

GoTools is a general-audience travel tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as GoTools evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
